As Sydell’s Managing Partner & Chief Development Officer, Jake oversees all development efforts from initial concept to realization. Involved in all stages of a project starting with due diligence, site selection, and underwriting, Jake and his team bring projects to fruition leading conceptualization, entitlement, development and construction. This includes the oversight and integration with Sydell’s Design, Procurement, Creative, and Food & Beverage functions.  During his tenure with the company, Jake has overseen the development of more than a dozen award-winning hotels, including the creation of the NoMad, LINE, Freehand and Saguaro Brands.  In total he’s delivered more than 3,300 keys and 3 million gross square feet, with combined development budgets of more than $1.5 billion. Jake serves on the executive committee which handles oversight of Sydell’s operating portfolio as well as corporate strategy.

Born and raised in the business, Jake got an early taste of hospitality running his family’s hotel, a five acre resort on the north shore of Massachusetts. Jake learned the ropes working through various front and back of house roles in hotel and restaurant operations. While working with Andre Balazs he oversaw several hotel operations and participated in the development of Standard Miami, Standard Highline and Hotel QT.  After four years with Balazs, Jake shifted gears and worked at Ackman-Ziff Real Estate Group; a full-service capital advisory firm specializing in debt, mezzanine and preferred equity financing. While at Ackman-Ziff, he specialized in the financing and capitalization of hotel properties in domestic and emerging markets.
